These easy cheeseburger sliders have an ingredient that make them unlike any I’ve ever tasted!!
I do my best to plan meals for the week–it cuts down on my grocery bill, food waste, and saves me so much time. But sometimes I miss getting a few ingredients added to my list. When that happens, new recipes like this are born out of necessity!
I found what looked like a simple recipe for cheeseburger sliders on Pinterest. I bought the buns. We are fortunate to always have frozen ground beef in the freezer. And we always have cheese too. Mayo, ketchup, mustard, check.
So last night when I was running through the ingredients list and getting supplies out to make dinner, I realized I didn’t have a couple of things. I was pretty sure I could improvise though. One was a specific brand of steak seasoning, but I knew I had that one covered! We pretty much only use one brand of steak seasoning these days—Tom’s Steak Rub. It works on meat, eggs, popcorn, and I’m sure other ways we haven’t discovered yet!
With a couple of other tweaks, this is what I came up with and my family ate THE ENTIRE PAN. So I guess you could say it was good?!? It must be the steak rub!
Note—be sure to follow the directions for the foil. No one likes soggy buns!
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 12 slider rolls (I used King’s Hawaiian)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Tom's Steak Rub
- 6 slices American Cheese
- 24 pickle slices
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Line a 9x13" baking dish with foil and coat lightly with nonstick spray. Set aside.
- Slice the slider rolls in half, and place the bottoms evenly into the prepared pan, setting the tops aside.
- In a large skillet cook the ground beef until no pink remains, breaking up the meat while cooking.
- Add the seasonings, stirring to combine. Remove the skillet from the heat.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Add in mayo, ketchup and mustard. Stir to combine.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly on top of the slider rolls.
- Top with a layer of pickles.
- Top with cheese slices, cutting to fit, if necessary.
- Place the slider roll tops on top, and press down slightly.
- Brush the melted butter on top of the sliders, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Cover the pan tightly with foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
- Remove the pan from the oven and keep covered for 5 minutes before uncovering and serving.
